Description

The ELCAN SpecterDR 1x/4x Rifle Scope is a Dual Role Optical Sight: with one throw of a lever it switches between true 1x for close-quarters work and 4x for distance. It is not a zoom — the two magnifications are discrete optical paths, so there is no zoom distortion and eye relief stays at 70 mm in both settings.

This is the 5.56 BDC reticle in Flat Dark Earth (FDE) CERAKOTE®. The reticle is etched into the glass, so your aiming point survives a flat battery, and the 32 mm objective feeds ELCAN's well-known glass. Ballistic drop compensation is marked from 100–600 m. The sight is supplied with a 3 MOA XOPTEK micro reflex sight on the Specter mount for an instant close-range aiming option.

How It Compares

Within the nine-strong SpecterDR family this is the 1x/4x body — 32 mm objective, 655 g, 153 × 68 × 72 mm — with BDC marked 100–600 m. The 1.5x/6x models use a 42 mm objective and carry their BDC to 1000 m. Choose 1x/4x when close-quarters speed matters most — its low setting is a true 1x — and 1.5x/6x when you are shooting further. The reticle choice is the second decision and it is not cosmetic: this sight carries the 5.56 BDC (CX5395), calibrated with NATO M855 62gr on a 16-inch M4 barrel; the sibling 7.62 BDC reticle is drawn for a different trajectory and its holds will not match your rifle if you fit the wrong one. Finish is the third: this one is Flat Dark Earth, and the same configuration is offered in black. This variant alone adds the 3 MOA XOPTEK reflex sight — choose it over the plain DFOV4-T265-C10 if you want a dedicated close-range dot alongside the magnified optic. Browse the wider rifle scopes range and AR-15 optics.

Ideal For

  • Carbine work needing both a magnified optic and a dedicated close-range dot
  • Shooters who want one optic instead of an LPVO plus a magnifier
  • Duty and tactical rifles that must work with the battery dead
  • Engagements inside 600 m

Key Features

  • Magnification: Dual role — discrete 1x and 4x optical paths changed by throw lever, not a zoom
  • Reticle: Illuminated 5.56 BDC ballistic and ranging reticle (CX5395), etched into the glass and usable without power, calibrated with NATO M855 62gr on a 16-inch M4 barrel and marked from 100–600 m
  • Illumination: Battery-powered LED, five brightness settings for both the full crosshair and the centre red dot, night-vision compatible, CR2032 battery — 6 MOA dot at 1x, 1.5 MOA dot at 4x
  • Glass: 32 mm objective; reticle etched into the glass and visible without power
  • Eye Relief: 70 mm, identical at both magnifications
  • Turrets: 0.5 MOA clicks with 120 MOA of total adjustment
  • Mount: Integral MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny mount with dual ambidextrous A.R.M.S. throw levers
  • Housing: CERAKOTE® Flat Dark Earth (FDE); submersible for 2 hours at 20 m
  • Reflex Sight: Supplied with a 3 MOA XOPTEK micro reflex sight, 1.0x, ten brightness settings, CR2032

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it a 1x–4x zoom?
No — the SpecterDR has two discrete optical paths, 1x and 4x, selected by a throw lever. There is nothing in between, and eye relief stays at 70 mm in both.

Is the reticle illuminated?
Battery-powered LED, five brightness settings for both the full crosshair and the centre red dot, night-vision compatible, CR2032 battery — 6 MOA dot at 1x, 1.5 MOA dot at 4x.

What happens if the battery dies?
The reticle is etched into the glass, so the full crosshair and its BDC markings remain fully usable with no power at all.

Which calibre is this reticle for?
This is the 5.56 BDC reticle (CX5395), calibrated with NATO M855 62gr on a 16-inch M4 barrel and marked from 100–600 m. If you shoot 7.62, choose the 7.62 BDC version instead — the holds are not interchangeable.

How does it mount?
Integral MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny mount with dual ambidextrous A.R.M.S. throw levers. No separate rings or base are needed.

What is the XOPTEK reflex sight for?
It is a 3 MOA red dot that mounts on the SpecterDR via the Specter mounting plate, giving an immediate close-range aiming point alongside the magnified optic.
