The Trijicon MRO HD 1x25 Red Dot Sight 68 MOA Reticle Full Co-Witness Mount (SKU MRO-C-2200052) is a 1x non-magnifying 25 mm tube red dot sight with a switchable reticle — a 68 MOA segmented circle around a 2.0 MOA centre dot, or the dot on its own — sixteen brightness settings including night-vision compatible positions, and a forged 7075 aluminium housing.
HD stands for the high-definition reticle set. Choose the full circle-dot when you want the circle to funnel your eye onto a close target fast, or switch to the plain 2.0 MOA dot when you want an uncluttered window for precision. A 68 MOA circle subtends about 71 in (1.8 m) at 100 yards and the 2.0 MOA dot about 2.1 in (53 mm), so one optic covers both jobs. The MRO HD also uses a re-engineered objective lens designed to work behind a magnifier.
Trijicon builds the MRO — Miniature Rifle Optic — to the same standard as its duty optics: a forged 7075 aluminium housing, sub-flush adjusters that cannot be knocked off zero in a slip, and a body sealed waterproof and fogproof. That heritage is engineering, not marketing.
Mount Option: Full Co-Witness Mount — this optic is stocked in four mounting configurations: MRO HD red dot sight with no mount, MRO HD red dot sight with low mount, MRO HD red dot sight with full co-witness mount and MRO HD red dot sight with lower 1/3 co-witness mount.
How It Compares
This one ships with a full co-witness Picatinny mount, which puts the dot level with AR-pattern iron sights so both line up together. Against the rest of the MRO range: the Trijicon MRO SD red dot sight is the plain 2 MOA dot with no circle, simpler and cheaper; the Trijicon MRO HD Patrol red dot sight is the same HD reticle on a quick-release Q-LOC mount for kit that comes on and off; and the MRO HD and 3x magnifier combination (MRO-C-2200057) pairs this optic with a matched Trijicon 3x magnifier and a flip-to-side mount. Adding your own magnifier later is straightforward because the MRO HD objective is built for it — see the red dot sight magnifiers. Browse the Trijicon rifle red dot sights, the optics for straight-pull rifles and the shotgun red dot sights, or read our red dot mount height chart, guide to co-witness heights and guide to choosing a red dot magnifier.
Ideal For
- Practical and service rifle shooting on a straight-pull AR-pattern rifle, where the circle finds close targets and the dot holds at distance
- Practical shotgun and 3-Gun, where a 68 MOA circle is the fastest thing to catch on a moving target
- Night fox and vermin control alongside a lamp, using the night-vision compatible brightness settings
- Red dot and magnifier builds, because the MRO HD objective lens is designed to be looked through by a magnifier

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Trijicon MRO HD and the MRO SD?
The Trijicon MRO HD has a switchable reticle — a 68 MOA segmented circle around a 2.0 MOA centre dot, or the dot on its own — and an objective lens re-engineered to work behind a magnifier. The Trijicon MRO SD has a single 2 MOA dot and nothing else in the window.
What battery does the Trijicon MRO HD use?
The Trijicon MRO HD runs on a single CR2032 coin cell, and Trijicon quotes up to 2.5 years of run time on the dot-only setting.
Will the Trijicon MRO HD fit a Picatinny rail?
This version is supplied with a full co-witness Picatinny mount, which clamps to a standard Picatinny rail — what AR-pattern flat-top receivers, most straight-pull carbines and Picatinny-railed shotguns use.
Can the Trijicon MRO HD be used with a magnifier?
Yes — the MRO HD objective lens is specifically re-engineered for use behind a magnifier, and Trijicon sells the optic packaged with a matched 3x magnifier and flip-to-side mount as the MRO HD and 3x magnifier combination. Our guide to choosing a red dot magnifier explains what to look for.
How big is the 68 MOA circle at 100 yards?
A 68 MOA circle subtends about 71 in (1.8 m) at 100 yards, and the 2.0 MOA centre dot about 2.1 in (53 mm), so the circle frames a target while the dot marks the aiming point.
Is the Trijicon MRO HD waterproof?
Yes — the Trijicon MRO HD has a sealed forged 7075 aluminium housing that is waterproof and fogproof, which is why it is specified for hard outdoor use in British weather.
