The SAI Optics SAI 6 1-6x24 Rifle Scope is a first-focal-plane LPVO from the design team behind Tangent Theta. True 1x for both-eyes-open work up close, 6x when you need to identify and hold, and an etched reticle that keeps working with the illumination off.
This listing is the SAI 6 Reticle - 5.56 version.
How It Compares
SAI builds the SAI 6 in five reticle and colour combinations, and the reticle is the only thing that separates them — every one is the same 1-6x24 first-focal-plane scope on a 30 mm tube. The three Coyote Brown models carry cartridge-specific BDC reticles with the Rapid Aiming Feature: 5.56 BDC (RNG16-T170-C10), 7.62 BDC (RNG16-T170-C20) and 6.8 BDC (RNG16-T170-C30) — pick the one matching what you shoot, because the holdover hashmarks are cut to that round's trajectory. The two Matte Black models carry SAI's milliradian reticle instead of a cartridge-specific BDC, and split on the Rapid Aiming Feature itself: MRAD RAF (RNG16-BK22-MA1) has the bullet-shape rapid-aiming elements, MRAD No RAF (RNG16-BK22-MB1) leaves them out for an uncluttered sight picture. This is the 5.56 BDC in Coyote Brown. Browse all rifle scopes, the wider LPVO rifle scopes range and AR-15 optics.
Ideal For
- Close-quarters work where you need the aiming point instantly at 1x
- Shooters running 5.56 who want holds cut to that round rather than generic marks
- Ranging and holding without dialling, using the VSOR and holdover hashmarks
- Wet and low-light conditions — sealed to 3 metres, etched reticle, red LED
Key Features
-
Reticle: SAI 6 Reticle - 5.56 — etched first-focal-plane reticle with the bullet-shape Rapid Aiming Feature elements, a graduated fine crosshair with a floating central cross, ballistically corrected holdover hashmarks, wind hold-off reference dots and the Vertical Subtention Optical Rangefinder (VSOR), coupled with 5.56 ballistic trajectory data from SAI's live-fire trials
-
Illumination: LED, red, 10 settings, powered by a CR2032 3V lithium battery — the LED lights the thin horizontal and vertical stadia including the central cross, and the reticle is etched so it stays usable with the illumination off
-
Focal Plane: first focal plane, so subtensions and holds stay true at every magnification
-
Rapid Aiming Feature: bullet-shape elements set at angular positions around the reticle, whose intersecting geometry guides the eye to the centre for fast target acquisition
-
Ballistic calibration: holdover hashmarks cut to 5.56 trajectory data from SAI's live-fire trials
-
Turrets: 0.1 mrad clicks with 35 mrad (120 MOA) of elevation and windage travel
-
Housing / Finish: Type II Anodized, Coyote Brown
-
Water Resistance: sealed for 2 hours at 3 metres

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Rapid Aiming Feature?
RAF stands for Rapid Aiming Feature, SAI's trademarked reticle element: bullet-shape marks set at angular positions around the reticle whose intersecting geometry guides your eye to the centre, so you pick up the aiming point quickly at 1x. This model has it.
Is the reticle illuminated?
Yes — LED, red, 10 settings, powered by a CR2032 3V lithium battery — the LED lights the thin horizontal and vertical stadia including the central cross, and the reticle is etched so it stays usable with the illumination off.
Is it first or second focal plane?
First focal plane — the reticle scales with magnification, so the holdover hashmarks and VSOR stay accurate at any power, not just at 6x.
Which cartridge is this one calibrated for?
This is the 5.56 BDC reticle. SAI cuts the holdover hashmarks to that round's trajectory using data from their live-fire trials, so pick the reticle that matches what you shoot.
Does it come with a mount?
No. It has a 30 mm tube, so it needs 30 mm rings or a one-piece mount, bought separately. Tenebraex lens covers, a killFlash Anti-Reflection Device, an adjustment cap lanyard and a battery removal disc are supplied.
