Description

The Bushnell Match Pro ED 15x56 Binoculars in grey, part number BMP1556G, are a tripod-class 15x56 binocular with a rotating Shot-Call MRAD reticle inside — so a miss on the range, or a beast across a hill face, can be measured in mils rather than estimated — over a field of view of approximately 79 m at 1,000 m (236 ft at 1,000 yd).

ED Prime glass runs through Abbe-Koenig BaK-4 prisms, with Ultra Wide Band coating, PC-3 Dielectric Phase Coating and the EXO Barrier shielding the exterior lens surfaces from rain, dust and oil. Dual adjustable dioptres bring each barrel and the reticle to focus independently, twist-up eyecups give 18.5 mm of eye relief over a 3.8 mm exit pupil, and the grey chassis is IPX5 rated and nitrogen gas purged against internal fogging. It is 8.6 in long and weighs approximately 1,474 g (52 oz), close focuses to approximately 4 m, and takes a tripod adapter or the supplied BridgeSet IPD stabiliser on either the front or the rear bridge.

How It Compares

The Match Pro ED 15x56 is the one binocular in our Bushnell range with a reticle inside it. The R7 15x56 shares the same 56 mm objectives, Abbe-Koenig prisms and ED Prime glass and is built to find game; the Match Pro ED is built to measure what you are looking at. It adds the rotating Shot-Call MRAD reticle, dual adjustable dioptres so both barrels and the reticle can each be brought to sharp focus, and the exclusive BridgeSet IPD stabiliser that locks your interpupillary setting in place. If you want the same class of glass without a reticle, the R7 15x56 is the cheaper route. For hand-held magnifications, start with the R7 10x42 or browse the full binoculars range.

Ideal For

  • Target shooters calling their own shots and reading impacts from the firing point
  • Precision rifle competitors who need to measure a miss in mils rather than estimate it
  • Long tripod-mounted spotting sessions where 15x has to stay steady and level
  • Deer stalkers who spend more of the day watching a hill than walking it

Key Features

  • Reticle: Shot-Call MRAD — a first-of-its-kind MRAD reticle that rotates, so it can be levelled plumb at any barrel angle and on any terrain
  • Glass: ED Prime glass with Abbe-Koenig prisms, for the clarity and low eye fatigue a full day behind the binocular demands
  • Coatings: Ultra Wide Band coating and PC-3 Dielectric Phase Coating, with EXO Barrier protecting the exterior lens surfaces from rain, dust and oil
  • Dioptre: Dual adjustable dioptres, so each barrel and the Shot-Call reticle can be focused to your eyes independently
  • BridgeSet: Exclusive BridgeSet IPD stabiliser included — a barrel-angle stop that holds your interpupillary distance in the field, prevents unauthorised adjustment and lets you return to your setting after storage
  • Mounting: A tripod adapter or the BridgeSet can be fitted to either the front or the rear bridge, whichever balance point you prefer
  • Eyecups: Twist-up eyecups with 18.5 mm of eye relief
  • Weather: IPX5 water resistance, nitrogen gas purged against internal fogging

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the reticle actually rotate?Yes. As you adjust the barrel distance to suit your eyes, the angle at the hinge changes, so a fixed reticle is only level at one setting. The Shot-Call MRAD reticle rotates, so it can be levelled plumb at any barrel angle and on any terrain.

What does the BridgeSet do?The BridgeSet is a barrel-angle stop that keeps your interpupillary distance from changing out in the field, prevents unauthorised adjustment, and makes it easy to return to your setting after storage. Bushnell describes it as a zero stop for your binoculars.

Can I mount it on a tripod?Yes. A tripod adapter or the BridgeSet can be fitted to either the front or the rear bridge, so you can choose the balance point you prefer. At 15x a tripod is strongly recommended for sustained spotting.

How does it differ from the R7 15x56?Both use 56 mm objectives, Abbe-Koenig prisms and ED Prime glass. The Match Pro ED adds the Shot-Call MRAD reticle, dual adjustable dioptres and the BridgeSet stabiliser, and carries an IPX5 rating where the R7 is IPX7.

Is it waterproof? It carries an IPX5 water resistance rating and is nitrogen gas purged against internal fogging. If you need resistance to full submersion, the R7 range is rated IPX7.
