The Primary Arms PLxC 1-8x24 FFP Rifle Scope in Flat Dark Earth (part number 610226, SKU PA-PLXC-1-8X24F-RDB-RAPTOR-5.56Y-G2-FDE) is a 1-8x magnification, 24 mm objective low-power variable optic on a 30 mm tube, with a first focal plane (FFP) ACSS Raptor 5.56/.308 Yard G2 reticle and Red Dot Bright illumination, finished in Flat Dark Earth. It is 9.28 in (236 mm) long, weighs 16.95 oz (481 g), and adjusts in 0.1 MIL clicks with 100 MOA of windage and elevation travel.
This is the tan-finished version of Primary Arms' calibre-specific first-focal-plane compact. Because the reticle scales with the image, the ACSS Raptor's drop holdovers, ranging stadia and wind marks measure correctly at every magnification rather than at one; and Red Dot Bright illumination keeps the centre chevron usable like a red dot at 1x, which is what makes a first-focal-plane LPVO viable for close work.
How It Compares
This is the Flat Dark Earth calibre-specific first-focal-plane option. The same optic in black with the ACSS Raptor 5.56/.308 Yard G2 reticle is identical but for the finish. For a milliradian grid instead of a calibre-specific reticle, see the PLxC 1-8x24 FFP in Flat Dark Earth with the ACSS Griffin MIL G2 reticle. For a second-focal-plane alternative in the same finish, the PLxC 1-8x24 SFP in Flat Dark Earth with the ACSS Nova reticle gives a larger reticle at 1x. For more magnification, the PLxC 1.5-12x36 with the ACSS Raptor 5.56/.308 reticle reaches 12x. A 30 mm mount is required, such as the Primary Arms PLx 30 mm cantilever mount. Frequently Asked Questions
Which calibre is the ACSS Raptor 5.56/.308 Yard G2 reticle calibrated for?
The ACSS Raptor 5.56/.308 Yard G2 reticle is calibrated for both 5.56 and .308, and its ranging and holdover marks are laid out in yards.
What does the ACSS Raptor reticle actually do?
The ACSS Raptor combines bullet drop compensation so you hold over rather than dial for distance, ranging stadia that estimate the distance to a target of known size, moving-target leads, and wind holds either side of centre, all in one reticle.
What does first focal plane mean, and why does it matter here?
First focal plane means the reticle grows and shrinks with the image as magnification changes, so the ACSS Raptor's ranging and holdover marks measure correctly at every power rather than at one stated magnification only.
Is the Flat Dark Earth version optically different from the black one?
No. The Flat Dark Earth Primary Arms PLxC 1-8x24 FFP has the same optical and mechanical specification as the black version, and only the anodised exterior finish differs.
Is a first-focal-plane reticle usable at 1x?
Yes, on this scope. At 1x a first-focal-plane reticle is at its smallest, which is why Primary Arms fits Red Dot Bright illumination — the centre chevron is driven bright enough to be used like a red dot sight for close work.
What mount does this scope need?
The Primary Arms PLxC 1-8x24 FFP has a 30 mm tube, so it requires 30 mm rings or a 30 mm cantilever mount, which is not included.
