Description

The Primary Arms SLx 5X MicroPrism Scope (part number 710046, SKU PA-SLX-5XMP-AUR-MIL) is a fixed 5x magnification prism scope with a 26 mm objective and a glass-etched ACSS Aurora MIL reticle in red. It is 3.31 in (84 mm) long, weighs 8.5 oz (241 g), adjusts in 0.25 MOA clicks with 50 MOA of windage and elevation travel, and runs up to 29,000 hours on a CR2032 cell across 13 brightness settings, three of which are night-vision compatible.

Five times magnification is the top of the MicroPrism range, and it turns a compact prism into a genuine mid-range optic. The ACSS Aurora MIL reticle carries a full milliradian grid for ranging, elevation holds and wind holds, which means it works with any cartridge you have MIL data for rather than being tied to one load. And because the reticle is etched into the glass rather than projected as an LED, shooters with astigmatism see it sharply where a red dot would appear smeared or doubled — with the added benefit that the reticle still works with the illumination off or the battery flat.

How It Compares

This is the most magnified prism in the range and the only one with a full MIL grid. For a wider field of view and faster close-range handling, the SLx 3X MicroPrism with the ACSS Raptor 5.56/.308 Yard reticle gives 3x with a calibre-specific ballistic reticle. For unmagnified prisms, see the GLx 1X MicroPrism with the ACSS Cyclops reticle and the SLx 1X MicroPrism with the ACSS Cyclops Gen II reticle. If you would rather have variable magnification, compare the SLx 1-6x24 Gen IV LPVO. Browse the Primary Arms prism scope range and all prism scopes, and read our guides to how prism scopes work, astigmatism and red dot sights and MRAD versus MOA.

Ideal For

  • Shooters with astigmatism who see red dots as a smear, flare or double image
  • Target and gallery rifle shooting, where a fixed 5x and a MIL grid suit known distances
  • Deer stalking and vermin control at mid range, in a fraction of a scope's weight
  • Practical and service rifle shooters who work in milliradians rather than a calibre-specific BDC

Key Features

  • Magnification: Fixed 5x with a 26 mm objective — mid-range magnification in a 3.31 in body
  • Reticle: ACSS Aurora MIL, etched into the glass, with a full milliradian grid for ranging, elevation and wind holds
  • Astigmatism: The etched reticle is resolved through the optic's own focusing system, so it stays sharp for eyes that see LED red dots as a smear
  • Illumination: Red, 13 settings of which 3 are night-vision compatible, with AutoLive motion sensing, up to 29,000 hours on one CR2032 cell
  • Backup: Fully usable with illumination off or the battery flat
  • Turrets: 0.25 MOA per click, 50 MOA of windage and elevation travel
  • Mount: Modular mounting system with 8 height options, on the mini-prism footprint
  • Weight: 8.5 oz (241 g)
  • Warranty: Primary Arms Lifetime Warranty

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a prism scope help with astigmatism?
Yes, for many shooters it does. A prism scope's reticle is etched into the glass and viewed through the optic's own focusing system, so it is resolved by the same corrected optical path as the target, whereas a red dot projects an LED that an astigmatic eye commonly sees as a smear, flare or double image.

Which calibre is the ACSS Aurora MIL reticle calibrated for?
The ACSS Aurora MIL is a milliradian-based reticle rather than a calibre-specific bullet drop compensator, so its grid is stated in MIL and works with any cartridge once you know your own drops in MIL.

What does the ACSS Aurora MIL reticle actually do?
The ACSS Aurora MIL provides a full milliradian grid, which lets you estimate range from a target of known size, hold over the correct number of milliradians for bullet drop, and hold off for wind, all without dialling a turret.

Does the Primary Arms SLx 5X MicroPrism work if the battery dies?
Yes. The reticle is etched into the glass rather than projected, so it remains fully visible and usable with the illumination switched off or the battery flat.

What mount does the SLx 5X MicroPrism need?
The SLx 5X MicroPrism ships with its own modular mounting system offering 8 height options on the mini-prism footprint, so no separate mount needs to be bought.

Should I choose the 5X or the 3X MicroPrism?
Choose the 5X MicroPrism for more magnification at mid range and a milliradian grid that suits any cartridge, and choose the 3X MicroPrism for a wider field of view, faster close-range handling and a ballistic reticle calibrated for 5.56 and .308.
