Description

The SIG Sauer ZULU6 HDX PRO 18x50 Image Stabilised Binoculars in Flat Dark Earth, part number SOZ6WP1850, are the top of SIG's land-going PRO line: 18x magnification on 50mm objectives with OmniScan™ OIS stabilisation, a 3.7-degree actual field of view (approximately 65 m at 1,000 m) and the widest apparent field of the three PRO 50mm models at 66.6 degrees, so the view stays open despite the reach. It is the glass for judging beasts you cannot walk to.

OmniScan™ OIS uses a digital accelerometer to blend Scan and Target behaviour automatically over a 2-degree image compensation angle, running on two AA alkaline cells for 40 hours with a 10-minute auto shutoff. HDX™ PRO GLASS is paired with LENSARMOR™ and SPECTRACOAT™ coatings through Schmidt-Pechan roof prisms. Twist-up eye cups give 15.3mm of eye relief, the non-locking dioptre ring adjusts +/- 3 and interpupillary distance spans 56mm to 72mm. The IPX-7 waterproof and fog-proof body measures approximately 203 x 67 x 122 mm (8.00 x 2.63 x 4.79 in), weighs 963 g (33.97 oz) and focuses to 5.5 m (18.04 ft); it is tripod mount capable, and a foam carrying case is supplied.

How It Compares

The ZULU6 HDX PRO 18x50 is the top of SIG SAUER's land-going PRO line and has the widest apparent field of the three at 66.6 degrees, against 59.2 on the 16x50 and 51.8 on the 14x50 — so despite being the highest magnification, it does not feel like looking down a tube. Eye relief is the shortest of the three at 15.3mm. Actual field, body, weight, battery and runtime match its siblings. Against the standard ZULU6 HDX 20x42 it trades two power for 50mm objectives, HDX PRO glass and OmniScan OIS. The ZULU6 HDX PRO Marine 18x50 is the same optic built for water.

Ideal For

  • Long-range hill stalking where you are judging beasts you cannot walk to
  • Night fox and vermin spotting over wide open ground at genuine distance
  • Deer counts and survey work that would otherwise need a spotting scope and tripod
  • Anyone who wants the most magnification SIG offers in a hand-held binocular

Key Features

  • Image Stabilisation: OmniScan™ OIS with a digital accelerometer, which seamlessly blends Scan and Target behaviour and adjusts stabilisation to how much the binocular is moving; 2-degree image compensation angle
  • Magnification: 18x with 50mm objectives — the PRO chassis gathers more light than the 42mm ZULU6 HDX models
  • Glass: HDX™ PRO GLASS, LENSARMOR™, SPECTRACOAT™ — HDX PRO glass with SpectraCoat anti-reflection coatings and LensArmor scratch-resistant outer surfaces
  • Battery: Runs on two AA alkaline cells for 40 hours, with a 10-minute auto shutoff
  • Eye Relief: 15.3mm with twist-up eye cups
  • Focus: Non-locking dioptre ring with +/- 3 adjustment; interpupillary distance 56mm to 72mm

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 18x hand-holdable?With OmniScan OIS running, yes. The digital accelerometer blends Scan and Target behaviour automatically and compensates over a 2-degree angle, which is what makes this magnification practical without a tripod.

Does the higher magnification make the view feel narrow?Less than you would expect. The apparent field of view is 66.6 degrees, the widest of the three PRO 50mm models, so the image feels open despite the reach.

How does it compare with the 16x50?The 16x50 has slightly longer eye relief at 16.4mm and a 59.2-degree apparent field. Body, weight, actual field, battery and runtime are the same. The 18x50 simply reaches further.

What batteries does it use?Two AA alkaline cells, giving 40 hours or more with a 10-minute auto shutoff.

Is there a marine version?Yes — the ZULU6 HDX PRO Marine 18x50, in high-visibility orange with a custom Pelican waterproof case, a floating neck strap and a polarised objective flip-back cover.

Where can I see the rest of the range? The full SIG Sauer line-up sits in our binoculars collection.
