Description

The SIG Sauer ZULU6 HDX PRO 14x50 Image Stabilised Binoculars in Flat Dark Earth, part number SOZ6WP1450, are the entry point to SIG's PRO chassis: 14x magnification on 50mm objectives, OmniScan™ OIS stabilisation and the most generous eye relief in the PRO line at 18mm, over a 3.7-degree field of view (51.8 degrees apparent, approximately 65 m at 1,000 m). At 953 g (33.61 oz) it is a binocular you glass with rather than walk with.

OmniScan™ OIS uses a digital accelerometer to blend Scan and Target behaviour automatically, with a 2-degree image compensation angle, running on two AA alkaline cells for 40 hours with a 10-minute auto shutoff. HDX™ PRO GLASS is paired with LENSARMOR™ and SPECTRACOAT™ coatings through Schmidt-Pechan roof prisms. Twist-up eye cups, a non-locking dioptre ring with +/- 3 adjustment and interpupillary distance from 56mm to 72mm handle the fit; the IPX-7 waterproof and fog-proof body measures approximately 203 x 67 x 122 mm (8.00 x 2.63 x 4.79 in) and focuses to 5.5 m (18.04 ft). It is tripod mount capable, and a foam carrying case, neck strap and two AA batteries are supplied.

How It Compares

The ZULU6 HDX PRO 14x50 is the entry point to SIG SAUER's PRO chassis and the widest-eye-relief model in it at 18mm. Against the standard ZULU6 HDX 12x42 it is a heavier, more serious instrument: 50mm objectives, HDX PRO glass, two AA cells for 40 hours instead of one for 30, and OmniScan OIS, which blends Scan and Target behaviour automatically rather than asking you to choose. Its 51.8-degree apparent field is the narrowest of the three PRO 50mm models — the 16x50 and 18x50 present a wider apparent view at higher magnification, with correspondingly less eye relief. All three share the same 3.7-degree actual field and the same 8-inch body.

Ideal For

  • Open hill stalking where you glass for hours from a static position
  • Spectacle wearers who want a 50mm stabilised binocular — 18mm eye relief is the most generous in the PRO line
  • Night fox and vermin work where 50mm objectives earn their weight in the last of the light
  • Deer management and survey work over long ground

Key Features

  • Image Stabilisation: OmniScan™ OIS with a digital accelerometer, which seamlessly blends Scan and Target behaviour and adjusts stabilisation to how much the binocular is moving; 2-degree image compensation angle
  • Magnification: 14x with 50mm objectives — the PRO chassis gathers more light than the 42mm ZULU6 HDX models
  • Glass: HDX™ PRO GLASS, LENSARMOR™, SPECTRACOAT™ — HDX PRO glass with SpectraCoat anti-reflection coatings and LensArmor scratch-resistant outer surfaces
  • Battery: Runs on two AA alkaline cells for 40 hours, with a 10-minute auto shutoff
  • Eye Relief: 18mm with twist-up eye cups
  • Focus: Non-locking dioptre ring with +/- 3 adjustment; interpupillary distance 56mm to 72mm
  • Housing: Flat Dark Earth armour, IPX-7 waterproof and fog-proof rated

Frequently Asked Questions

How is OmniScan OIS different from the stabilisation in the standard ZULU6 HDX?OmniScan uses a digital accelerometer to blend Scan and Target behaviour automatically, adjusting stabilisation to how much the binocular is actually moving. The standard ZULU6 HDX models ask you to select Scan or Target yourself.

Is it worth the extra weight over a 42mm model? At 33.61 oz (approx. 953 g) it is around 330 g heavier than the 42mm ZULU6 HDX models, so it is a binocular you glass with rather than walk with. In exchange you get 50mm objectives, HDX PRO glass and 40 hours of runtime.

Which PRO 50mm model should I choose? The 14x50 has the longest eye relief at 18mm and is the easiest over a long session. The 16x50 and 18x50 reach further with a wider apparent field and shorter eye relief.

What batteries does it need and are they supplied? Two AA alkaline cells, and yes — two AA batteries are included. Runtime is 40 hours, with a 10-minute auto shutoff to protect them.

Is it waterproof?Yes — IPX-7 waterproof and fog-proof rated.

Where can I see the rest of the range? The full SIG Sauer line-up sits in our binoculars collection.
