Description

The SIG Sauer ZULU6 HDX PRO 16x50 Image Stabilised Binoculars in Flat Dark Earth, part number SOZ6WP1650, sit in the middle of SIG's PRO 50mm trio: 16x magnification on 50mm objectives with OmniScan™ OIS stabilisation, a 3.7-degree actual field of view (approximately 65 m at 1,000 m) and a wide 59.2-degree apparent field — the one most stalkers settle on for judging heads across a glen.

OmniScan™ OIS uses a digital accelerometer to blend Scan and Target behaviour automatically, with a 2-degree image compensation angle, running on two AA alkaline cells for 40 hours with a 10-minute auto shutoff. HDX™ PRO GLASS is paired with LENSARMOR™ and SPECTRACOAT™ coatings through Schmidt-Pechan roof prisms. Twist-up eye cups give 16.4mm of eye relief, the non-locking dioptre ring adjusts +/- 3 and interpupillary distance spans 56mm to 72mm. The IPX-7 waterproof and fog-proof Flat Dark Earth body measures approximately 203 x 67 x 122 mm (8.00 x 2.63 x 4.79 in), weighs 961 g (33.91 oz) and focuses to 5.5 m (18.04 ft); it is tripod mount capable, and a foam carrying case, neck strap and batteries are supplied.

How It Compares

The ZULU6 HDX PRO 16x50 is the middle of SIG SAUER's PRO 50mm trio and the one most stalkers settle on. It reaches further than the 14x50 and presents a noticeably wider apparent field at 59.2 degrees against 51.8, at the cost of eye relief dropping from 18mm to 16.4mm. Against the standard ZULU6 HDX 16x42 it is the same magnification with 50mm objectives, HDX PRO glass, OmniScan OIS and 40 hours on two AA cells rather than 30 on one — roughly 340 g heavier for a materially better picture at dawn and dusk. The 18x50 is the next step up.

Ideal For

  • Open hill stalking where you judge heads across a glen before committing to a stalk
  • Night fox and vermin spotting, where 50mm objectives and a stabilised 16x image work together at last light
  • Long sessions glassing the same ground, where 40 hours of runtime removes battery anxiety
  • Anyone choosing between a stabilised binocular and a spotting scope on a tripod

Key Features

  • Image Stabilisation: OmniScan™ OIS with a digital accelerometer, which seamlessly blends Scan and Target behaviour and adjusts stabilisation to how much the binocular is moving; 2-degree image compensation angle
  • Magnification: 16x with 50mm objectives — the PRO chassis gathers more light than the 42mm ZULU6 HDX models
  • Glass: HDX™ PRO GLASS, LENSARMOR™, SPECTRACOAT™ — HDX PRO glass with SpectraCoat anti-reflection coatings and LensArmor scratch-resistant outer surfaces
  • Battery: Runs on two AA alkaline cells for 40 hours, with a 10-minute auto shutoff
  • Eye Relief: 16.4mm with twist-up eye cups
  • Focus: Non-locking dioptre ring with +/- 3 adjustment; interpupillary distance 56mm to 72mm
  • Housing: Flat Dark Earth armour, IPX-7 waterproof and fog-proof rated

Frequently Asked Questions

What does OmniScan OIS do that the standard ZULU6 HDX does not?It uses a digital accelerometer to blend Scan and Target behaviour automatically, adjusting stabilisation to how much the binocular is moving, instead of leaving you to switch modes by hand.

How does it compare with the standard 16x42?Same 16x magnification, but the 16x42 is around 340 g lighter with 42mm objectives, one AA cell and 30 hours of runtime. This one has 50mm objectives, HDX PRO glass and 40 hours on two AA cells.

Will it work with spectacles?Eye relief is 16.4mm with twist-up eye cups and a +/- 3 dioptre. If you need more, the 14x50 gives 18mm.

How long do the batteries last? Two AA alkaline cells give 40 hours or more, with a 10-minute auto shutoff.

Can it be tripod mounted?Yes — it is tripod mount capable, though the ZULU6 HDX PRO binocular adapter is sold separately.

Where can I see the rest of the range? The full SIG Sauer line-up sits in our binoculars collection.
