Holosun's range is huge, and the model numbers look like alphabet soup until you know the system. Here's the full decoder — bookmark it and you can read any Holosun model name at a glance.
The prefix: HS vs HE
- HS — the classic line, typically with a red LED (e.g. HS403C, HS507C X2).
- HE — the Elite line with upgraded emitters and housings; most green and many premium models sit here (e.g. HE509T, HE512T).
- Colour is confirmed by the suffix: -RD red, -GR green, -GD gold. Gold dots (like the EPS Gold range) are Holosun's newest option for astigmatic shooters and bright daylight.
The first digit: 4 or 5
- 4xx — single dot reticle only (407C = 2 MOA or 6 MOA dot).
- 5xx — Multi-Reticle System (MRS): switch between a 2 MOA dot, a 65 MOA circle, or both (507C, 510C, 512T).

The suffix letters
- C — Solar Failsafe: a solar panel backs up the battery and can auto-adjust brightness (403C, 507C, 510C).

- T — titanium housing (508T, 509T, 512T, HE512T).
- X2 — second generation: side-load battery tray (no re-zero on battery swaps) and button lock mode.
- CM / GM (515 series) — the full package: QD Picatinny mount and flip-up lens caps with kill flash. CM is 7075 aluminium, GM is titanium — compare the HS515CM and HS515GM.
